HIV Prevention, Care and Treatment
Program Overview
MUWRP with support from the US President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) established this program in 2005. It provides HIV prevention, care and treatment services, and health systems strengthening support in six districts of Kayunga, Mukono, Buikwe, Buvuma, Luweero and Nakasongola. Currently, the program supports:
- A data-driven health systems strengthening program, currently serving over 90,000 people living with HIV under 138 health facilities in six districts: Mukono, Kayunga, Buikwe, Buvuma, Luweero, and Nakasongola. The program aims to improve the quality of life for these individuals.by prioritizing finding people living with HIV, early initiation on treatment, adherence to treatment, and retention of people on treatment.
- HIV prevention and skilling services to adolescent girls and young women through the Determined Resilient Empowered AIDS free Mentored and Safe (DREAMS) Program reaching to over 13,000 girls.
