Biography

Prof. Dr. David M. Serwadda is a distinguished Ugandan physician, researcher, and public health expert renowned for his contributions to HIV/AIDS research and health systems in Africa. He is a Professor at Makerere University’s School of Public Health and a founding member of the Accordia Global Health Foundation’s Academic Alliance. Dr. Serwadda earned his medical degrees from Makerere University and Johns Hopkins University. He was among the first Ugandan physicians to identify HIV/AIDS in the early 1980s and has since been a leading figure in studying its epidemiology across Africa. His leadership roles include serving as Director of the Makerere Institute of Public Health and as Dean of the School of Public Health. He continues to actively teach and conduct research, and he is a Fellow of the Uganda National Academy of Sciences.
